Cadence Trainer Manual
📈 Cadence Trainer Manual
▶️ Introduction
Cadence Trainer is designed to help runners improve their running cadence, making their stride more efficient and lowering the risk of injury.
It’s a free app supported by ads and optional in-app purchases. The focus is simple: guide you step by step through cadence training.
⚡ Quick Start Guide
Want to begin training right away? Here’s how:
-
Set Your Target Cadence
On the main screen, use the Increase/Decrease buttons or the slider to choose your cadence. -
- Normal Run – Free, but the app must stay open and the phone unlocked.
- Pro Run – Works in the background with the phone locked. Requires Tokens or a subscription.
-
Start Your Run
Tap Start Run. Run at your own pace and let the app guide your cadence with audio cues. -
Stop Your Run
To prevent accidental stops, the Stop Run control uses a slider instead of a simple button.- The slider shows a power icon on the left and a stop icon on the right.
- To end your run, slide the power icon all the way to the right until it reaches the stop icon.
- Once the run ends, the app will display your average cadence alongside your target cadence.
👉 Tip: Subscriptions unlock unlimited Pro Runs and remove ads for an uninterrupted experience.
▶️ Run Modes
Cadence Trainer offers two ways to run:
-
Normal Run:
A basic mode designed mainly for testing the app. You can set a target cadence and run at your own pace, but the app must stay open and the phone unlocked.
⚠️ Note: On many phones, battery-saving settings may pause or close the app in this mode, which can interrupt your run. -
Pro Run:
The recommended way to use Cadence Trainer. Pro Runs continue in the background with the phone locked, saving battery and giving a smoother, more reliable experience.- You can start a Pro Run by spending a Token.
- Tokens can be earned by watching a rewarded ad, purchased in bundles, or unlocked with a subscription.
👉 Subscriptions: With an active subscription, all runs are Pro Runs and ads are removed, giving you unlimited, uninterrupted use. Subscriptions are also the best way to support ongoing development.
💡 Tip: The easiest way to try a Pro Run is to tap Earn Token on the main screen, watch a short ad, and use the free token to unlock your next run.
▶️ Main Screen

Screen Controls
The main screen includes the following options:
- About Cadence Trainer – Shows an overview of the app.
- History Graph – Displays your target and actual cadence for the last 10 runs.
- Current Cadence – Shows the current target cadence.
- Increase / Decrease Cadence by 5 – Adjust cadence in steps of 5.
- Change Cadence – Set cadence using a slider.

▶️ Permissions
Cadence Trainer requires permission to access your phone’s hardware step counter (usually under “Motion” or “Fitness”).
Without this permission, the app will still work, but it won’t be able to record your actual cadence during a run.
You may be asked for permission via a popup, or you can manage it anytime by tapping Step Counter Status on the main screen and selecting Settings.
Depending on your location, additional permissions may apply under GDPR or Apple’s App Tracking Transparency (ATT) framework. These can also be adjusted in your phone’s settings or via the Consent option in the app’s settings menu.
