Does Cadence Trainer work on all phones?

▶️ Runs, Tokens & Subscriptions
How do Run Tokens work?
Run Tokens let you skip the ad shown at the start of a run.
- Earn a token by watching a rewarded ad using the Watch Ad for Token button. This can be done at any time.
- Purchase token bundles in the app.
- Tokens are automatically used when starting a run, so your run starts are uninterrupted.
What is Go Unlimited?
Go Unlimited is a subscription that removes all ads and gives you unlimited, uninterrupted runs.
- No tokens are required — every run starts instantly and ad-free.
- This is the best option for regular runners and supports ongoing app development.
Do I need to pay to use the app?
No. The app is free to download and use.
Ads are shown at the start of runs if you don’t have any Run Tokens, and sometimes after stopping the run. You can earn Run Tokens by watching ads if you don’t want to purchase them, and Go Unlimited is optional.

How do I stop a run?
Cadence Trainer uses a slide-to-stop control to avoid accidental stops.
Slide the power icon on the left all the way to the stop icon on the right.
After stopping, the app will show your average cadence and target cadence.

▶️ Permissions & Privacy
Why does the app ask for step counter permission?
This is required to measure and display your actual cadence during a run.
Without it, the app will still function, but it won’t be able to track your steps per minute.

What about privacy and tracking?
Depending on your region, you may be asked to consent to data usage under GDPR or Apple’s App Tracking Transparency (ATT).
You can change your consent at any time in the app’s settings or your phone’s system settings.

▶️ Troubleshooting
The app stops when my screen turns off. What can I do?
This usually happened in an early version of the app when running without a subscription because the app ran in the foreground and the phone couldn’t be locked.
To avoid interruptions, we recommend upgrading to the current version, versions 2.1.0 or later enable all runs to run in the background with the phone locked.

My cadence isn’t being recorded. Why?
Some phones do not have a built-in step counter, or the permission may not be granted.
Check the Step Counter Status on the main screen:
- A Yellow circle means the permission is denied, tap to open settings and grant permission if needed.
- A Red circle means no hardware step counter is detected.
- A Green circle means the permission is granted and the step counter is active.
